The IMPACT project entitled Implication des Médias Numériques pour une Prévention Active des Conflits et des Tensions (Implication of Digital Media for Active Prevention of Conflicts and Tensions) is being implemented jointly by Avocats Sans Frontières France (ASF France), Danaïdes, AfricTivistes, Association des Blogueurs de Guinée (ABLOGUI) and Réseau des Professionnels de la Presse en Ligne de Côte d’Ivoire (REPPRELCI) in the framework of a consortium in Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea.

This project addresses the need for capacity building and public awareness on misinformation and false information by equipping civil society actors, including digital media, citizen journalists and youth. Such capacity building of civil society will have an impact on neighbouring countries and will contribute to a significant improvement in conflict prevention through digital media in West Africa and to a greater regional stability.

All project activities have been designed to have a lasting impact, including the creation of a secure and collaborative regional platform for conflict prevention through online media. The platform is part of the project’s sustainability objective insofar as it will be autonomous and managed by AfricTivistes after the end of the project.

Besides, the contents and resource documents used for the trainings will be put online on the platform so they can be reused for new trainings by the local partners. The activities implemented during the action will be sustainable and duplicable.

Target groups are authors and users of digital media. The final beneficiaries are the populations of Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire. During the project, they will be sensitised through information sessions, awareness caravans and internet content. In the middle and long term, the well-being of the populations should improve thanks to the consolidation of a sustainable peace to which the prevention and deconstruction of false news and hate messages in the digital media should contribute.
