Our Values

We AfricTivistes, a pan-African movement of democracy activists, hold a number of values that guide our actions and vision. They focus primarily on respect for the law, political impartiality, protection of democratic processes, and the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to promote democracy, good governance, and human rights.

Respect for the legal framework: AfricTivistes is committed to conducting all its activities within the legal framework, which means that it respects the laws and regulations in force in the countries where it operates.

Non-partisan citizen politics: AfricTivistes maintains an apolitical stance, meaning that it does not support any specific political party and that it acts in the interest of all citizens. Their goal is to encourage active and informed political participation by all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation.

Protecting democratic processes: AfricTivistes is committed to ensuring electoral and democratic processes. This includes monitoring elections to guarantee their integrity, civic education to inform citizens of their rights and responsibilities, and the defense of basic civil and political liberties.

Using ICTs for democracy, good governance and human rights: AfricTivistes acknowledge the potential of information and communication technologies to promote democracy and good governance. They use these technologies to inform citizens, facilitate their political participation, monitor government actions, and defend human rights.

The Africa of tomorrow, by us, for us!

Our vision of the Africa of tomorrow is one that many Africans aspire to. It is a vision of an Africa that is defined, built and driven by its own citizens, for its own citizens. This vision is based on several key principles.

Self-determination: This is the idea that Africans must have control over their own destiny. This means assuming responsibility for their own economic, political, and social development, rather than depending on outside influences.

Inclusion: An inclusive Africa of tomorrow means that all Africans, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, or disability, have a role to play in shaping the future of their continent.

Sustainability: Sustainability is another key principle of the Africa of tomorrow. It means ensuring that Africa’s natural resources are managed in a sustainable manner, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Innovation: The Africa of tomorrow is a continent that values and encourages innovation. This includes innovation in areas such as technology, economics, education and governance.

Unity: Despite Africa’s diversity, unity is an essential principle of the Africa of tomorrow. It means working together to achieve common goals and address common challenges.

Our vision of Africa’s future is a continent that is strong, resilient, prosperous and equitable. It is the result of the collective effort of Africans themselves, working together to achieve their shared vision. An Africa “by us, for us.
