AfricTivistes introduces convenient click-away cybersecurity e-learning programme

AfricTivistes is launching its new CyberSecurity Open Classroom project with a call for applicants. This programme, designed to fill the gaps in cybersecurity awareness and overcome technophobia, marks a significant transition from the face-to-face format launched in 2017 to an online platform.

CyberSecurity Open Classroom is a theoretical and practical training course for French-speaking civil society and media stakeholders, pro-democracy activists, journalists and bloggers, artists, opinion leaders and citizens wishing to learn about cybersecurity in Africa.

The three-month programme includes modules on how to secure your online environment, how to browse safely and anonymously, how to encrypt your data and how to secure your online communication, etc.

Since 2017, AfricTivistes has been providing a series of face-to-face training courses on cybersecurity and responsible use of the internet, reaching more than 1,000 people across Africa and Haiti in 2023.

After an extensive in-person phase, this programme is now being rolled out online, providing access to educational content for a wide audience, including young social media users. The online courses, exercises and practical safety and protection situations will be accessible free of charge by registering here before 31 January 2024.
