Unfortunate postponement of 3rd Africtivistes #Nairobi2020

17 avril, 2020

African network of bloggers and cyberactivists for democracy AFRICTIVISTES announces with deepest regret the postponement of its 3rd summit #Nairobi2020 that was slated for the end of June 2020 – due to circumstances beyond its control.

AFRICTIVISTES has been encouraged by the enthusiasm of its members and traditional and new partners since the announcement of the 3rd summit to be held in East Africa. We have been working closely with the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) which is hosting the 3rd summit.

However, following the emergence of the new coronavirus COVID-19 which affects more than 40 countries on the continent and many other states around the world, preparations were slowed down and some preparatory meetings and activities were cancelled.

Africtivistes thus concluded that because of the spread of this disease and its considerable and unclear non-health-related implications, it would be preferable to postpone the third summit to June 2021.

Africtivistes is committed to the development of the continent and it is essential to take the right measures to stay healthy in order to realize any development potential.

Africtivistes takes this opportunity to commend the commitment of its members to support the response to COVID-19 in their respective countries through the many online and offline initiatives put in place to raise awareness and ensure the protection of communities.

We look forward to seeing you at our 3rd Africtivistes Summit #Nairobi2021 in Kenya to build “Tomorrow’s Africa, by us and for us”.

Africtivistes reaffirms its commitment to the development of the continent and urges the respect of the barrier gestures.
